Packing Tips

Start right away. It is never too early to sort through closets, basements, attics, garages and those boxes that have been stored away forever.

Get rid of items you don’t and won’t use.

Begin to pack items that you will not need until after the move/remodel is complete.

Don’t over pack boxes. Be sure boxes close flatly and securely.

Keep box weights and sizes (when possible) manageable.

Pack by room keeping items that go together—together.

Label boxes on top and side.

If disassembling furniture, be sure to keep all screws and bolts in a plastic bag taped to the underside of the furniture.

Be sure not to pack paperwork that you will need to refer to before the move/remodel is complete. Contracts, bids, insurance, loan information and the like should be kept on hand in an easy to locate place.

Keep cleaning supplies and items such as vacuums and mops out until the end. (You never know what type of mess you may encounter, and it is illegal for moving companies to transport them).
